Orchid Beauty

I’ve always believed that original artwork should be within anyone’s budget. As part of my effort to walk the walk I do some smaller pieces that can be priced affordably allowing more people to make purchases. It also makes sense in these tougher economic times to adopt the “McDonalds” approach – sell lots of units at lower prices thus keeping the dollars for dog food and more art supplies coming in!

This 6 x 6 inch painting is an original pastel piece mounted to a cradled panel. I love orchids for their beauty and elegance. They remind me of warmer days (it’s currently snowing outside) perusing the garden stores and my longing for spring comes to the fore. Continue reading

Chickens running amok in Studio

Sometimes we artists can take ourselves a little too seriously. It’s very refreshing to just let loose and paint whatever it is that’s ruminating in your mind. At the moment our family is dealing with imminent loss and I am finding it an essential survival technique to paint fun things. I’ve always had some fascination with chickens, roosters, cows and farms, which is somewhat odd especially since I was pretty much raised in suburbia. Continue reading
